Tax Audits

The Firm advises individuals and businesses who have been informed that that their returns are being audited or who are currently involved in an audit. Mr. Bigelman’s knowledge and prior work with the IRS allows him to understand how tax authorities view tax matters, thus affording clients effective representation and advocacy. The Firm also represents tax audit clients before various state and local entities.

Tax Appeals

The Firm manages tax audit procedures before the IRS agents and the appeals office, as well as State tax audits, and follow up appeals to the U.S. Tax Court and the Michigan Tax Tribunal.

Federal Estate Tax Returns

The Firm has the skills to address sizable and complicated estates, including estates with business interests or those containing multiple real estate interests, as well as the preparation of federal estate tax returns.

Federal Gift Tax Returns

The Firm assists clients with the determination of whether U.S. gift tax return filings are required, and Mr. Bigelman prepares the filing of gift tax returns. He has experienced very few questions or audits of gift tax returns (or estate tax returns) over the decades he has practiced.
